New “Our Work” Webpage Highlights How GSA Is Working to Advance It’s Mission
The Grower Shipper Association of Central California (GSA) has launched a new webpage to provide an overview of efforts to advance families, food and farming in our region. The “Our Work” webpage focuses on GSA’s efforts to protect farm workers from COVID-19, improve water quality and supply, help its members manage diseases and pests as well as increase farm labor housing options.
“GSA and our members’ priority have obviously been on protecting essential workers from COVID-19 and this new section gives a comprehensive compilation of those efforts,” says Christopher Valadez, GSA President. “While much has been done to protect farm workers, including mass vaccination clinics, these efforts will continue as employees return to our region.”
While COVID-19 has taken precedent, GSA has moved forward important initiatives that impact both agriculture and residents along the Central Coast.
“We want to communicate transparently about what we do and why we do it,” explains Valadez. “In addition to regular blog posts, this “Our Work” section is a reflection of our commitment to communicate with our community.”
Visitors to the “Our Work” section can also review GSA’s survey results of Central Coast and Bay Area residents. The survey was conducted to determine what issues are impacting or concerning residents the most, and more specifically, how they view issues affecting agriculture in their community. While this survey was conducted prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the results and responses still have value and provide important information to GSA as the organization works to advance its mission.
Finally, GSA news page has been updated so blogs and press releases are easier to view with improvements to the layout and page navigation.
“We continue to face difficult challenges during this pandemic,” Valadez says. “But we will do our best to provide regular updates about new and ongoing prevention efforts to our community as well as the other issues of importance to our region.”
